On Friday 10 May, Anneliese Dodds, MP for Oxford East, met with representatives from the Environment Agency, Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Brasenose College, Hertford College, as well as local City Councillor Anna Railton. Together they discussed the following matters of concern:
- Moored boats exceeding the allowed time limits
- The condition of moored boats
- The management and removal of boats which have sunk or are at risk of sinking
- The renting out of boats as short-term lets
- The options for regulating moorings, including tackling issues around land ownership and responsibilities
- The ongoing damage to the towpath from unlicensed moorings
On the meeting Anneliese said:
“It was a constructive walkabout and meeting on the towpath. Together, we discussed how as a city we can take better care of the Isis and its environs – for the sake of all who use it.”
