Following the announcement that European elections will be held on the 23rd
of May unless a withdrawal agreement is agreed to, Anneliese Dodds, Labour
MP for Oxford East has taken action to ensure all Oxford’s citizens will be
able to participate if necessary.

Anneliese has contacted local universities to encourage them to ensure that
students are registered, and the local Electoral Registration Officer to
press for appropriate arrangements to be ensured for European citizens.

Anneliese said: “The electoral registration process for students has become
much more complicated over recent years; and our EU citizens also have to
undertake additional steps to ensure they are on the register compared with
ordinary elections.

“Whatever party people want to vote for at the European elections, should
they take place, its important that they aren’t turned away at the first
hurdle”.
