Anneliese Dodds, MP for Oxford East, responding to the publication of university admission figures, said:

“The news that the number of applicant for higher education fell by over 7,000 is very concerning.”

“Disregarding the fact that large scales changes to exams and continued education cuts, low-income students are still facing high levels of fees in excess of £57,000, and interest rates are now adding over £5,000 to the average student’s debt.”

“Today I have written to Jo Johnson MP, the Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, outlining my concerns and asking what the Government intends to do about the falling number of applicants.”
